La Misa Negra
with Arachel Dolphie & The Cuban Band
📅 October 30 & 31
📍 Daisy’s Restaurant – Florence
A spiritual and musical journey rooted in the ancient African ceremonies that profoundly shaped Cuban culture.
La Misa Negra is more than a performance — it’s a folkloric and ancestral ritual, a deeply sensorial experience that blends Yoruba spirituality, Bantu rhythm, Tango Congo, Afro Latin Jazz, and Afro Cuban Jazz.
With her magnetic voice and commanding stage presence, Arachel Dolphie leads the audience through a four-part ceremony — Prayer, Approach, Arrival, and Farewell — merging African roots with the freedom of jazz.
The batá, arará, and yuka drums converse with the piano, used as a percussive and harmonic instrument, creating a symphony that celebrates the connection between humanity, nature, and divinity.
When African people arrived in the Americas, they brought with them their knowledge, faith, music, and rituals. La Misa Negra pays homage to that living heritage — one that continues to resonate in the heart of Cuba and inspire artists around the world.
✨ Dress code: white — in the tradition of Yoruba ceremonies, symbolizing purity, light, and spiritual renewal.
